DRIFT Offshore and Kystdesign to highlight new joint services at Subsea Tieback forum
Subsea resourcing specialist DRIFT Offshore and Norwegian ROV provider Kystdesign have deepened their partnership arrangement with a new joint service offering for the US market and other key regions.
DRIFT Offshore will bolster Kystdesign’s global service delivery through the provision of expert support from its new subsea repair facility in South Florida.
The 5,000sq ft base is set to open soon, and in addition to the current service offering, it will be an approved Kystdesign repair facility, underpinning the efficient and reliable provision of Kystdesign ROV systems in the region.
DRIFT Offshore’s investment in the base will extend beyond routine equipment and tooling repairs to encompass full system rebuilds, computer and control systems upgrades, engineered solutions and technical support, as well as providing equipment storage space, directly addressing an acknowledged shortage of subsea repair facilities and skilled personnel in the US market.
DRIFT Offshore and Kystdesign first announced their new working relationship last year as a means of strengthening their service capabilities and exploring new market opportunities.
To date, it has primarily focused on DRIFT Offshore professionals delivering specialist pilot training on Kystdesign ROVs – as a means of addressing another key skills gap in the global subsea industry.
Beyond the use of the repair facility to support Kystdesign systems operating in the US market and elsewhere globally, the broadening of their partnership means DRIFT Offshore will also:
- provide Kystdesign with technical and mobilisation support
- train a field service division for offshore support
- hold stock of components and in time support product manufacturing.
DRIFT Offshore and Kystdesign will be together at the 25th annual Subsea Tieback Forum & Exhibition at the Moody Gardens Convention Center in Galveston from March 4 to 6, to share the market benefits of their collaboration.

DRIFT Offshore’s facility will be fully equipped to deliver repairs and upgrades for customers, featuring electronic and hydraulic workshops, as well as a mechanical assembly capability and manipulator repair services for the Schilling product line.
