DRIFT recently supported HonuWorx in the delivery of two successful remote subsea demonstrations in Rhode Island and Houston, showcasing the capabilities of over-the-horizon ROV operations across defence and offshore energy applications.
At BlueTIDE 2026 in Newport, Rhode Island, DRIFT’s Kyle Pitman remotely piloted an ROV operating in UK waters via HonuWorx’s HonuNet™ platform. The demonstration successfully showcased the ability to conduct subsea operations across the Atlantic through shore-based command and control. The demonstration was recognised by the BlueTIDE organisers with the “Demonstration Excellence” Award for the best shoreside demonstration at the event.
Four days later, DRIFT was back supporting HonuWorx in Houston, where Kyle piloted a second live demonstration from Chevron’s office. Using a laptop, web browser and USB joystick, a series of live subsea inspection tasks were successfully completed as part of a satellite project for the DeepStar® Global Offshore Technology Development Consortium.
The two demonstrations highlighted how the same remote operating capability can be deployed across different environments and applications, supporting subsea operations within defence, critical infrastructure and the offshore energy sector.
DRIFT was pleased to support HonuWorx in the successful delivery of both demonstrations, providing experienced ROV operational support as remote and uncrewed subsea technologies continue to develop.
This is another example of how collaboration, innovative subsea technology and experienced operational personnel can come together to support safer, more efficient and increasingly remote subsea operations.
