Meet Grace Johnston. Based in Aberdeen, Grace is an integral part of our recruitment team. Keep reading to find out what inspires her to succeed on behalf of clients and candidates at DRIFT.
How did you get where you are today?
I started working in recruitment when I left school and instantly took a liking to it. I enjoyed the fast-paced and challenging environment and knew it was something I wanted to build a career around. I have worked my way up through the different levels, which sometimes felt hard, but it was worth it.
What inspired you to join DRIFT?
Being a part of a young and growing company made it very exciting for me. The team are very well respected, and I wanted to be a part of that and grow with the business, working together as a team. I find Meghan and Kyle very inspiring. I look up to what they have built and want to develop and learn from them.
What happens in a typical working day?
Trying to fill lots of vacancies, which is exciting and rewarding. No day is the same in the office, and it will keep us on our toes. The atmosphere in the office is always a pleasant part of the day and working with such a helpful and fun team makes all the difference.
What is your favourite part about your job?
My favourite part of the job is getting someone over the line and away on a job. It’s very rewarding as it can be a challenging industry.
What is your proudest achievement at DRIFT so far?
Playing a key role in rapidly increasing the number of offshore contractors currently engaged with DRIFT in a short period of time.
When not at work, where will we find you?
I enjoy exercising and taking care of my health, so you will find me in the gym or out running with my dog. I like a bit of balance, so you could also find me spending time with my family, boyfriend or friends down the pub enjoying a nice cocktail!
What advice would you give someone starting out in the subsea industry?
Be open to learning about the industry from the people around you. This is a great industry with lots of opportunities for growth and development.
